MAG-NA-PORT INTERNATIONAL

Mag-na-port International is the world leader in firearm technology. With over 30 years of firearm porting using E.D.M. [electrical discharge machining] this method cuts metal with such a perfectly precision clean cut that it does not mark or harm the barrel and does not leave any burrs on the inside of the barrel.

Mag-na-porting provides shooters with high quality porting services, reduction in recoil and muzzle lift. Any type Firearm can be ported shotguns rifles auto pistols and wheel guns.

The E.D.M. process used by Mag-na-port can be described as a spark erosion process. An electrical spark wears away the metal using an interrupted flow of electrical power. When finished a clean burr-free port is cut into the barrel leaving the surrounding finish undisturbed. The trapezoidal design works as a metered port regulating gases as they escape ensuring the velocity effects by Mag-na-porting are insignificant. The trapezoidal ports are so unique in shape and function, they were the first porting system protected by U.S. Patent and are currently protected as a registered trademark of Mag-na-port International, Inc.

Since Mag-na-port was introduced, the trapezoidal ports placed at the end of handgun barrels have allowed shooters better control through the reduction
in recoil and muzzle lift.

Traditional Mag-na-porting of a handgun consists of two trapezoidal ports cut into the barrel approximately ½ inch from the muzzle. These ports were
placed at approximately 35 to 45 degree angles. For the shooter, this
translates into a reduction of perceived recoil of 15 to 20%!

The Rifle Style Mag-na-porting consists of two trapezoidal ports and two oval ports cut into the sides of the barrel. This style of porting is available on barrels of 7 ½ inches of longer and recommended for the handgun hunter and larger calibers. The side ports help by providing additional reduction in recoil and aid in barrel stability.

With the Dual Trapezoidal Mag-na-porting, shooters using shorter barrels with a minimum length of 3 inches gain greater relief from muzzle lift. Using two trapezoidal ports on each side of the barrel, the primary focus of gas dissipation helps reduce the muzzle lift. This style of porting is extremely effective on the snub nose magnum revolvers.

Mag-na-port offers a unique system of porting semi-automatics by using a trapezoidal port through the barrel and an oversized expansion vent through the slide to allow maximum dissipation without fouling. This process offers an alternative to shooters not wanting additional weight or length from add on compensators. Shooters using Mag-na-port’s "autoporting" services do not experience the large flash of muzzle blast encountered with systems dumping larger volumes of gases through holes positioned across the centerline. Law enforcement agencies and companies offering night sights have tested our porting service finding no difference in muzzle blast or night blindness on auto-pistols equipped with or without Mag-na-port. Mag-na-port international provided the information above.

I had two firearms ported by Mag-na-port international the first one my AR-15 match 20’’non-threaded barrel, two small slits were cut into the barrel 0.316" long and 0.060" wide, each slot is approximately at a 45 degree from the center line of the barrel.

In the picture of the AR, there is a scratch on the barrel; this was a futile attempt to install a muzzle brake on the non-threaded barrel, about the 3rd round the brake would fly off.

A very dangerous situation!

The price of porting was very reasonable for about $140.00 gave me suitable control of the firearm. To me the felt recoil and muzzle lift was very impressive; to give a percentage of reduction of lift and recoil is hard to say. I would be comfortable to say about 25 percent.

The second firearm that was ported is a HK USP-40. The trapezoid cut slot in the barrel and a much larger about two times the size in the slide. The barrel slot measures 0.381" in length and 0.073" in width the interesting part is the slide with the matching oversize slot which measures 0.672" in length and 0.254" wide. The magnaport made a considerable difference in the handling of the firearm. The firearm still has kick and muzzle rise but it makes it more controllable and improved follow up shots, better grouping on the target. The cost of the porting again is very reasonable around $150.00, half the price of a new barrel with a muzzle break. Plus you do not have the extra weight and length to deal with. I’m real pleased with the performance from Magnaport, If you want to improve the performance from any firearm this is the best method with out violating any state laws for the money. I will be sending them my Remington 1100 to have the barrel ported on it.
