psychological
preparation and concentration for the use of deadly
force. Killer Ken is a 3 dimensional foam manikin that
is molded in life like size. It combines realistic features
and durability, able to withstand 1000's of rounds.
These targets are designed so that bullet entry leaves
a small black burn ring on the target. After the scenario
is finished, a masking spray, which is provided with
each manikin, is used to cover up the most recent bullet
holes so that there is no scoring confusion.
We have hit Killer Ken with both pistol and rifle ammo
at distances ranging from 3 feet with a pistol to 300yds
with a rifle. The targets held up better than we had
expected, the pistol ammo did hardly any damage to the
target, usually just a small pucker. Rifle ammo at distances
performed about the same way, with slightly more damage
on the bullet exit. Even with rifle ammo, these targets
will hold up. Each Killer Ken target weighs less than
4 lbs.
This type of training aid should prove extremely valuable
to Police and Military personnel as well as to the average
civilian. With a few of these targets present at your
range or training area, you should be able to setup
numerous amounts of scenarios. For tactical teams, these
targets would be unbelievable in a kill house. Just
put different shirts or hats on the targets and you
can have a mix of "shoot-no shoot" targets.
One of the things, that I believe makes a three dimensional
target so great is the ability to take angled shots.
With paper targets, you are forced to face the target
head on, sometimes that area is too wide of a target
for some scenarios. Imagine a target that will allow
snipers to work themselves into a position to get the
best shot, or that gives the training officer the ability
to turn the target so that just the side of the head
is viewable.
Each Killer Ken comes complete with a target manikin,
1 can of masking spray and a cardboard background for
mounting. Priced at under $40 dollars, this is one of
the most economical targets on the market. A four pack
of targets is also available.
Killer Ken is already in use by the NYPD, U.S. Postal
Inspectors and a few other agencies. You can reach Simulaids
