KA-BAR
Tanto with Kydex sheath # 1245
KA-BAR
is a name well known across the globe. They've been
making knives since 1898. That should say enough about
this fine company as it is. I've got an old KA-BAR
MK-2 at home. It was my father's knife. It isn't much
to look at now, but its still got it where it counts.
I can throw it into a tree, or cut a piece of rope.
I can't tell you the number of deer or fish this knife
has cleaned. There is a long tradition and history
with KA-BAR. One that I hope will continue for generations
and generations.
KA-BAR
sent us one of the Black series, the Tanto #1245.
The Tanto style is one of the more popular styles
of blades these days. This style of blade angles the
blade to a sharp and extremely strong tip. I have
grown accustom to the Tanto style and this knife from
KA-BAR leaves none to be desired.
This knifes includes the Kraton G thermoplastic elastomer
handles, Epoxy powder coated high carbon steel (1095)
blades (partially serrated), and a Kydex sheath. The
blade length is 8", overall length 12 7/8".
The sheath provides an excellent home for the blade.
It has a nice clean and crisp "snap" into
place. I need this! If I don't get a clean snap, then
I spend all checking to ensure my blade is still there.
This knife has a familiar design and fits the hand
very well. The overall balance feels good. It passed
the chop test and the pry test. I did not try to cut
a nail and then a tomato (sorry). This is what I would
consider to be a heavier knife. Heavy is not a bad
thing! Its no brick mind you, but you know its there.
If you're looking for a good multi purpose knife,
give this one a try. This is a heavy-duty knife made
from high quality materials. It's a great addition
to any LBE or hunting pack. I've used it in both situations.
If you're a GI, this knife will more than meet your
requirements.
Give "kill a bear" or KA-BAR a try!
