CRKT
Crawford/Kasper Folder
I
am sure if anyone thinks back to their youth, they can
more then likely recall a memory of their father or grandfather
pulling out a pocketknife. Whether it was camping, on
a hunt, or out fishing. With those adolescent memories,
you can probably recall making one of your first vows
to yourself, to be as prepared for the moment as your
father or grandfather was then.
Well
as you grew and matured, so did the so-called "pocketknife".
Today's market in folding knives is very competitive.
If you want a good folding knife at a reasonable price,
take a look at the Crawford/Kasper Folder from Columbia
River Knife & Tool (www.crkt.com).
Writer
and knife use instructor Bob Kasper, got together with
veteran custom knife maker and Knifemakers' Guild member
Pat Crawford, and the two of them came up with a very
fine custom-folding knife for Columbia River Knife &
Tool (CRKT).
All
of CRKT blades are either stamped, fine blanked, or laser
cut from some of the highest carbon steel available. While
high levels of carbon and final hardness levels will keep
an edge longer, they also make it more difficult to field
sharpen a blade. The Crawford/Kasper folder has a blade
made of AVS 6M stainless steel, a hardness of 55 to 57
hrc, double hollow ground and a fine bead blast finish
to cut reflectivity.
The
knife comes in four models, a 3-inch or 3.87-inch blade,
with either a Razor- Sharp, or a Razor-Sharp and Triple-Point
Serrated blade.
The
blade itself features double thumb studs for ambidextrous
use. A Teflon bearing allows for silky smooth opening
and closing. The blade lock is a Walker-Lock and the makers
added the patented* Lake And Walker Knife Safety (LAWKS)
to provide lock security under the most serious situations.
Thick
stainless steel liners are covered with textured black
Zytel scales that are flat to allow for a smooth draw.
The thumb scallop on the left scale acts as an index point
for the initial grip and draw, it is also ramped down
leading to the thumb stud.
The
thumb ramp, index finger grove, and liner lock, all have
aggressive friction grooves to ensure index and thumb
grip in the wettest conditions. A clothing/gear clip is
mounted on the leading edge of the handle, and at the
butt there is a lanyard hole.
If
you are looking for feature packed folding knife at a
very reasonable price, the Crawford/Kasper folder is for
you.Please see the website www.crkt.com
