Summit Specialties, Inc. Viper Climbing Treestand

I haven't used a climbing tree stand in a few years, so I have not kept up on the industry advancements. After one of the readers suggested that we review a quality climbing tree stand, I started doing some research. I found that Summit Specialties has made some very serious advancements, so I figured they would be a good place to start.

They had the choice of sending any of their climbers, and they sent the viper. The thing about the Viper that really impressed me was the super tough attaching cables that are covered in heat shrink tubing. These snakable cables feature adjustment stops, making the Viper very hunter friendly.You can adjust the stand to the size of the tree at the base and still level it at your hunting height. It also make climbing the tree very quiet. The cables lock into the stand, and are very secure.The Viper has absolutely no bolts, pins, nuts or knobs to adjust as you position the stand. Setup is very quick and totally quiet.

The stand itself is constructed to be almost totally silent and has a weight limit of 300lbs. A super-sized seat with heat reflecting foam will make your hunt comfortable and warm. Instead of absorbing your body's heat, the closed-cell seats actually reflect your heat back to you. And stiffeners in the seat bottom prevent it from "biting" into your side. The safety rail is also both padded and very comfortable. This is one of those stands that you could stay in all day long and not feel it.

The viper comes with a safety belt system. A large, all welded platform gives you ample room to make shots in every direction. Whether you hunt with gun or bow.The Viper's stable, non-flexing platform incorporates high traction strips on the platform to prevent slipping.
