Hunting
out of a stand has always presented a unique problem
while trying to beat the natural abilities of the deer.
We go up a tree to get out of a whitetail's line of
sight, which for the most part works well, but we still
are concerned with what the deer smells. One of the
biggest problems with stand hunting has always been
positioning so that the wind was working in your favor
through out the day. Usually this meant one of the following
options: 1) buying a number of fixed position stands
and setting them up in a variety of locations ( this
could be very expensive ) 2) using a climbing stand
( not always practical ) or 3) staying put and hoping
to get by. There is a fourth option now.
The
Pro Hawk by Professional Hunting Products, L.L.C.,
is a fixed position stand the utilizes a mounting
bracket onto which the stand is hung. This provides
you with the ability to buy multiple mounting brackets,
and attaching them wherever you may choose to hunt.
If the wind shifts directions, just disconnect the
light weight stand from the mounting bracket and move
to your next location, leaving the bracket in place
for the next day, the next week or later that afternoon.
Buying multiple mounting brackets will cost you a
fraction of what you would pay for 4 or 5 stands,
and setting up multiple mounting brackets can be done
in a very short amount of time, a lot less time than
setting up multiple fixed position stands.
Setting
up this stand is easy, you simply attach the mounting
bracket to the tree with the provided ratchet strap,
then attach the stand to the bracket. Once the Pro
Hawk is attached to the mounting bracket, you then
attach a ratchet strap around the tree as a backup
and your ready to hunt from the stand. The seat, which
is made of trampoline cloth and comes with a brushed
cotton twill covered canvas cushion, folds out of
the way for convenience. The stand itself also folds
up so that it is flush against the tree.
The seat height is 20 inches and the foot platform
measures at 20 7/8 inches x 31 inches, giving plenty
of room for both archery and gun hunters. The stand
weighs in at a mere 18lbs and can support hunters
weighing 300 pounds. The stand folds flat, making
it very easy to transport and also for ease of storage.
